Reflections on “Resonance” 10-19-17

It has been almost 10 years since I released a physical CD; “Out of the Shell” was released in 2008. Since that time I have been releasing a string of digital singles. During this 10-year journey I spent 2 years working on the “Tone Wizards” book, which I released in September 2015. Looking back, I was able to apply many of the things I learned while working on the book to my music, recordings and guitar playing. Now with the completion of my latest batch of tunes the timing seemed right to document this point in my creative musical life with a physical album; something tangible, to hold in my hand and share with people. A CD may hold music in a digital format, but it is also lives in the analog, physical world. I hope that this physical element will enable people to slow down and enjoy the music and be freed from the “listen once and throw it away” mentality we regularly experience with a Facebook and Tweets flying by.

Resonance is a collection of new material along with some highlights from the digital singles I have released in the recent past. This collection has my usual stamp of diversity of feels and styles and attention was paid to the running order, even though many people will create their own playlists.

In addition to the CD format, Resonance is also available as a digital download, but it will not be available on streaming sites. Carl Verheyen said it best when he said to me “When a person buys an artists CD they are voting for that artist’s musical career to continue.”
It is a small commitment, a small token to let me know that my work is worthwhile and enables me to keep recording and releasing music for you and others to enjoy.
Resonance has now been sent off into the world where it will stand on its own and hopefully bring some genuine enjoyment to a few, or even many people.
